R J O'BRIEN FAMILY

 

Robert J. O'BrienROBERT J. O'BRIEN : Robert J. O'Brien has been RJO's Chairman of the Board since 1975, and has been a broker with R.J. O'Brien & Associates Inc. since 1950. Mr. O'Brien was President of RJO from 1963 to 1975 and Vice President from 1959 to 1963. He has served as a Director of RJO since 1966. In addition, Mr. O'Brien was an elected Director of the Board of Governors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) from 1966 to 1977 and for two years was Director of the International Monetary Market. During that time period, he served as Chairman of the CME , and led the Exchange through years of explosive growth. Mr. O'Brien has also directed various CME committees, including the Business Conduct, Rules, Membership and Executive Committees. He is a 1949 graduate of DePaul University.
 

John W. & Robert J. O'brien Jr.JOHN W. O'BRIEN : John W. O'Brien began his career in the futures industry in 1970. Like many others, he started by working for R.J. O'Brien & Associates (RJO) on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) as a runner and phone clerk. John also worked in every other capacity at RJO which gave him the opportunity to learn the operations of each department within the entire organization. John became a member of the CME in 1975, and from that he developed extensive trading experience. He was named Director of the firm in 1980 and elected as Chief Executive Officer in 1987. John has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, building a solid customer base with special emphasis on the agricultural markets. Together with his brother Bob, they represent the third generation of family leadership that began with their grandfather in 1914. John graduated from St. Norbert College in DePere, WI where he met Pat, his wife of 13 years. John and Pat are the proud parents of 4 children.

 

ROBERT J. O'BRIEN, JR. : Robert J. O'Brien Jr., has been President and a Director since 1975. He received his first exposure to the commodities industry in 1964, and has witnessed every conceivable type of market gyration and innovation. Starting as a runner and a phone clerk, he has served in every capacity at RJO. He has extensive market and trading experience, having been a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange since 1972. In addition, he has served on various Exchange committees. Mr. O'Brien is currently focusing on Research and Trading. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1970) and holds a Law degree from Loyola University of Chicago (1976).
